But shoppers should have no fear, Foodtown is on its way. And soon. The A&P will shutter its doors at 2005 Albany Post Rd. on Nov. 9 for a 24-hour renovation, before reopening on Nov. 10 as Foodtown. Full-scale renovations are expected after the holiday season, according to lohud.com.
There are 20 A&P locations in the Lower Hudson Valley region that will be part of the sell-off to chains such as Key Food, Stop & Shop, and CVS. The Croton-on-Hudson location is part of a three-store deal by PSK Supermarkets of Mount Vernon that includes outlets in New York City and Long Island for a total of more than $23 million.
The A&P is suffering from two bankruptcies in the last five years that have forced the closures.
